Black History Month, February 2017

In our classroom, we are music enthusiasts! We love to dance and sing to all genres of music, and often start our day with songs that motivate us and brighten our moods.  While studying Langston Hughes, we learned how music played an important role in both his writing, and in black culture.  Here, we can research and explore the history of hip hop and jazz, two influential and inspiring genres.

Black History Month, February 2016

Over the years, students have had some opportunities to learn about prominent African Americans who have made an impact in our nation's history. These valuable lessons have been meaningful to students and have given them brief glimpses into the struggles and triumphs of many important leaders. For this year's spotlight on Black History, we decided to focus on the origins of Black History Month itself - how, why, and who started it. To do this, students created projects using Blendspace. This is the first project students have ever created using this website presentation tool. Click on a name below to see his/her project. Enjoy!
